Motor offences for businesses
The penalties for driving an overloaded vehicle, especially a commercial one, are graduated depending on the amount of excess axle weight:
- Five to 10 percent over the permitted limit – £60
- 10 to 15 percent over the permitted limit – £120
- 15 to 30 percent over the permitted limit – £200
- More than 30 percent over the permitted limit – court summons
